Hamas Rejects Disarmament, Sets Tough Conditions Gaza, August 3

Gaza, August 3, 2025. Hamas has firmly rejected calls to disarm and has set strict conditions that must be met before considering any such step. The group demands a complete stop to Israeli airstrikes, the lifting of the Gaza blockade, and an end to the occupation of Palestinian territories.

A Hamas spokesperson said that disarmament is not an option while Palestinians still face military aggression, siege, and displacement. “Our weapons are for defense. There can be no peace while our people remain under occupation and collective punishment,” the spokesperson stated.

Hamas accused Israel of intentionally undermining ceasefire efforts and following a strategy aimed at weakening Palestinian resistance.

The group outlined several conditions for any ceasefire or talks on disarmament:

1. Immediate end to Israeli attacks on Gaza.

2. Full lifting of the humanitarian and economic blockade.

3. A stop to settlement expansion in the West Bank.

4. Recognition of Palestinian statehood and sovereignty.

International mediators continue to push for a lasting ceasefire, but the rigid positions of both sides pose a major obstacle to progress.

International Response and Humanitarian Impact

Global diplomats and humanitarian agencies have urged both sides to exercise restraint and return to negotiations. The UN Special Envoy for the Middle East said, “The only lasting solution is a political one built on mutual recognition, justice, and respect for the rights of the Palestinian people.”

Meanwhile, civilians in Gaza continue to suffer the most from the conflict. Hospitals are overwhelmed with casualties, and essential resources like water, electricity, and medical supplies are critically low. Families displaced by airstrikes live in dire conditions without access to shelter and basic necessities.

Several humanitarian organizations, both local and international, have described the situation in Gaza as a full-scale humanitarian crisis.
